Portumna Public Realm Enhancement Scheme

Open for submissions

Galway County Council are delighted to present a further round of consultation on the development of a Public Realm Enhancement Scheme for Portumna Town Centre. The first round of consultation received over 75 submissions which we have considered in the draft design of the scheme.

Please click on public consultation documents on the right (under Materials). Click on 'make a submission' and tell us what you think. As part of the materials we have also included for public information the outline design of the redevelopment Portumna Courthouse which is going to construction in 2024.

Your views and comments will be evaluated and presented to the members of the Municipal District of Loughrea. Based on your views, a design will progress to the planning consent process, which will once again be subject to public consultation and will be voted upon by the members of the Loughrea Municipal District.  At that point, if the scheme is approved, Galway County Council will to apply to central government for funding to develop the scheme further and ultimately build it.

This project has been commissioned by Galway County Council, led by the Regeneration Team and is being prepared by a consultancy team led by the RPS Group. It is funded through the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund, a key element of Project Ireland 2040.

The deadline for receipt of submissions is November 21st 2023.

If you wish to find information on the consultation being undertaken by Coillte in relation to Portumna Forest Park please see www.portumnaforestpark.com for more information.

Thank You!
