NOTICE – SECTION 38

SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL SCHEME for

Calasanctius College, Castle Road, Oranmore Co Galway

Under Section 38 of the 1994 Road Traffic Act, a Road Authority may in the interest of the safety and convenience of road users provide such traffic calming works as it considers desirable in respect of a public road in its charge.

Galway County Council proposes to implement a Safe Routes to School Scheme at the following location:

L-81033 Castle Road, Oranmore, Co Galway.

A summary of the proposed measures for this location (Subject to funding) are:

• Reinstatement & enhancement of bus bay and drop off facility adjacent to green space off Castle Road.
• Controlled raised pedestrian crossing at Castle Road, Junction with Main St.
• Raised uncontrolled crossings along castle Rd.
• Enhanced footpath facilities.
• Road markings.
• Pencil bollards.
• Safe Routes to School signage.
• North access to public carpark delimited to pedestrian/ cyclist use only.
