Public Consultation Portumna Public Realm Enhancement Scheme

We welcome your submissions

Welcome to the public consultation process for the Portumna Public Realm Enhancement Scheme. The attached information panels explain the plan preparation and invite you the public to have your say to help make the best possible public realm plan for Portumna town centre. The public realm in its simplest terms refers to the space between buildings and includes roads, streets, lanes, parks, squares and footpaths.

The plan will aim to be creative and innovative, putting placemaking at its heart and embracing urban design and architecture to ensure that Portumna will realise its full potential as an attractive and thriving hub within Irelands Hidden Heartlands.

This project has been commissioned by Galway County Council, led by the Regeneration Team and is being prepared by a consultancy team led by the RPS Group. It is funded through the Rural Regeneration and development fund, a key element of Project Ireland 2040. It forms one part of the wider Portumna Vision 2030 regeneration programme being delivered for Portumna through rural regeneration funding, including the redevelopment of the iconic Courthouse on Clonfert venue.

This exciting project will give Portumna a once in a lifetime opportunity to reimagine itself as a more attractive, inclusive and dynamic town for people to live, work, visit and invest.

We now cordially invite you to give us your initial feedback and ideas to make the best possible enhancement plan for Portumna.
