To Whom It Concerns,

The Connemara Chamber of Commerce wishes to make the following submission to the 'Draft Galway County Development Plan 2022-2028 ' for a Remote Working Hub in the heart of Clifden town centre.

Please see attached presentation on the proposed hub.

General Comments on the proposed Clifden Remote Working Hub:

- An immediate opportunity exists to establish a remote working hub in Clifden, Co. Galway

- Large scale premises has been identified in the heart of Clifden

- Bring a diversity of industry to the town and surrounding hinterland

- It would provide year-round business is a seasonal tourism region

- This centre has broad political support

- This centre supports and is fully in line with the objectives of the recently published Our Rural Future: Rural Development Policy 2021-2025 by the Department of Rural and Community Development

- In June 2020, Clifden was awarded circa €150,000 for a Remote Working Hub Centre from the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund, we wish for this funding to be released and for it to be utilised.

As per Table 5.4 in the “Economic Benefits and Potential within County Galway’’, the County Development Plan approach for Clifden is noted as: Improve employment prospects. We believe such a hub in the heart of Connemara would achieve this desired CDP approach.
