Dear Sir/Madam,
I wish to express my support for the change in zoning of the above lands from Residential Use to Use for Recreation and Amenity.
I believe that this proposed change in zoning is consistent with the Planning Authoritie’s recent Planning Refusal under Planning Register Reference Number 19/1721. This application included six reasons for refusal including Traffic Hazard, Environmental Issues (proximity of lands to Galway Bay SAC and Inner Galway Bay SPA) and the Risk of Flooding.
With regard to flooding, the Planning Authority was “not satisfied that the site is not at risk of flooding in the future or not satisfied that the development will not exacerbate the risk of flooding elsewhere”. Also, with regard to flooding, the Planning Authority deemed that the development “would be contrary to Ministerial Guidelines issued under Section 28 of the Planning and Development Act, 2020 (as amended) and would be contrary to the proper planning and sustainable development of the area”.
In view of the foregoing, I fully support the revised zoning for the above lands, which is consistent with the refusal permission referenced above.
