Please see attached two scanned attachments with areas highlighted in ‘bold black’ outline and marked X (page 1) and Y (page 2).

I proposed the area highlighted in attachment page 1 and marked ‘X’ be zoned as CF (community facilities) instead of R2. This area is owned by the Department of Education (Portumna Community School under the trusteeship of GRETB and the Bishop of Clonfert) and is currently used as the playing fields for Portumna Community School and has been since 1990.

I proposed the area highlighted in attachment page 2 and marked ‘Y’ be zoned as CF (community facilities) instead of R2. This area is owned by the Bishop of Clonfert and is currently used and signposted as a Biodiversity area for Portumna Community School since 2019. With the permission of the Bishop of Clonfert this area has been used by Portumna Community School as an student amenity for the following purposes since 1990; a school ‘pitch & putt’ course/practice area, team sport training area, ecology study area and now a Biodiversity site that is maintained by the staff and students of Portumna Community School.
