Galway County Council Local Authority Climate Action Plan 2024-2029

Galway County Council is delighted to publish the Climate Action Plan 2024-2029.
The ambition of this Plan is aligned to the Government’s National Climate Objective which seeks to achieve the transition to a climate resilient, biodiversity rich, environmentally sustainable and climate neutral economy by 2050. The Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Act 2021 frames Ireland’s legally binding climate ambition to deliver a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 51% by 2030. To secure this sustainable future for the citizens of Galway, the Council has prepared this Climate Action Plan for the period 2024 to 2029 to create a low carbon and climate resilient County, by delivering and promoting best practice in climate action.
