Planning and Development Acts 2000 (as amended) Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended) – Part 8

In accordance with Part 8 of the Planning & Development Regulations 2001 as amended, notice is hereby given that

Galway County Council proposes to construct the following works, as described below, on this site.

Location:                    Oranmore Public Library, an tSraíd Mhór, Oranmore, Co. Galway.

Description:                There are three areas of construction work proposed:

•   New south transept exit lobby. An external exit porch is proposed outside existing exit door.

•   New main entrance enhanced internal lobby with a re-arranged stair to exit into this newly formed lobby.

•   North transept balcony stair rearrangement to exit into a revised enhanced internal lobby.

Oranmore Public Library is a Protected Structure, Galway County Council ref. no.240.

An Environmental Impact Assessment Screening process was undertaken for the proposed works, and Galway County Council has concluded that the scheme would not have a significant effect on the environment, and therefore an Environmental Impact Assessment is not required.  A Stage 1 ‘Appropriate Assessment’ screening was carried out for the proposed works and Galway County Council has concluded that a Stage 2 ‘Appropriate Assessment’ [Natura Impact Statement (NIS)] is not required. Any person may, within 4 weeks from the date of this notice, apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the works would be likely to have significant effects on the environment, or on a European site.

Plans and particulars of the proposed works will be available for inspection or for purchase for a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, during normal office hours (Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 4.00pm), excluding Bank Holidays and Public Holiday for a period of 4 weeks from Monday 10th July 2023 to 4.00pm on Tuesday 8th August 2023 inclusive, at the following locations:  Galway County Council, Planning Department (Public Counter), Áras an Chontae, Prospect Hill, Galway, H91 H6KX and the Athenry Municipal District Office, Old Church Street, Athenry, Co. Galway, H65 C992 (Monday - Friday 9.00am to 4.00pm)

Submissions or observations in relation to the proposed works, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the works would be situated, may be made in writing to: Rúnaí an Chontae, Galway County Council, P.O.
